After many gay and lbian people asked her to talk to their parents, she cid to beg a support group.

In the next years, through word of mouth and muny need, siar groups sprang up around the untry, offerg safe haven and mutual support for parents wh gay and lbian children. Followg the 1979 Natnal March for Gay and Lbian Rights, reprentativ om the groups met for the first time Washgton, DC.
