The rerd’s 11 tracks are a Quaalu dream, a set of gossamer songs so refed that they take on sedative properti.</p><div class="Contaer-bkChBi byNLHx"></div><cm-un></cm-un><p><em>Peace or Love</em> is, more than anythg, evotive: of early-ghts die pop (<a href=">Feist</a> duets on the tracks “Love Is a Lonely Thg” and “Catholic Country”), yachtg as a liftyle, bossa nova, the soundtrack to <em>Vicky Crista Barcelona</em>, Chad & Jeremy’s “<a href=">A Summer Song</a>.” If songs n sound the way sea breez feel, or like an iced ffee a piazza, the do. Which mak even more nfoundg that the duo of Eirik Glambek Bøe and Erlend Øye rerd this album five tim. “It’s very, very hard to make somethg sound simple,” Bøe says the rerd’s prs release—a very, very Norwegian unrstatement.</p><p>All sweat and other signs of effort have been pletely scbbed om the album, if ever they were dible. On certa tracks, like “Fever” or “Angel,” which sounds like the aternal tw of <a href=">Flight of the Conchords</a>’ ‘“<a href=">Foux du Fafa</a>,” this airbshed effect works well, pecially ncert wh lyrics that borr on the absurd. “Angel, she’s an angel,” Bøe sgs, adpan, “Though she might be promiscuo.” On others, like “Song About It” or “Comb My Hair,” this sleekns ocsnally has the unnny gloss of packaged lunch meat, over-engeered and too distant om s pose parts. The tracks’ succs pivots on an axis of earntns—when they’re cheeky, Kgs of Convenience pay wkg homage to sacchare ’70s pop, and when they’re ser, they liver mic engeered to play over speakers at a tony rooftop bar.
