I also don’t like the way the homophobic dad is handled. And as much as I like the tular son, bee 's told om the pot of view of the mother there's so much speculatn on what he's gog through, she tends to assume the bt but 's all clearly takg s toll on the ltle gay boy. I still really love all the characters of this story and seeg them grow as people (the dad wasn't so annoyg this volume but still irked that he thought lbians were hot but is grossed out by gay men)I hope that there are more volum of this seri the future.

And I hate that stead of sayg that the two women he talks about the book are married he says they're "gay married" as if gay marriage isn't jt regular marriage.

And I've also really gotten to the pot that I hate the people that the mother works wh bee they jt keep fetishizg their boss who's gay. 'But I n't help but thkg if a queer or gay person n bee an object of ridicule jt for beg who they are I would hate for our son to be that posn someday.

I also love how mted she is to lettg her son e out on his own terms, lettg him e to terms wh thgs ltle by ltle, and I also love how more often than not the solutn to "sticky suatns" that e up (whether he's too "girly, " for example) is to approach not om the viewpot as though he were gay, but to acknowledge that any such stereotypg or worry about those thgs is troublome and potentially stiflg to who he is, gay or not. We still don’t know for a fact that he’s gay, but jt like the mother of the seri, I get a feelg.
