1971 to 1989: The Aversn Project – homosexual soldiers the South Ain Defence Forc (SADF) were forced to subm to ‘cur’ for their homosexualy. 13 October 1990: The Lbian and Gay Pri March – South Ai’s first Lbian and Gay Pri march was held on this date Johannburg. It was the first Pri March on the Ain ntent and acted as both a gay pri event and an anti-Apartheid march.
The march was anised by the Gay and Lbian Organisatn of the Wwatersrand (GLOW) and attracted a crowd of about 800 people. The purpose of the event was not only to monstrate pri gay or lbian inty but also to provi a wir platform for voicg polil ncerns.
