Schoenbach opened her agency September 1989 Edgewater, and stayed there for four years, tellg Wdy Cy Tim that, almost immediately, she got lls om gay men livg what was then lled Boystown (recently renamed Northalsted) who saw her ads the Pk Pag and many other LGBTQ+ publitns. Back then, gay upl would ll and say they wanted to buy surance but they were timid. ' I dug to why many sound that way and I learned that they were turned down by other lol surance agents bee the agenci did not want gay ctomers.
As I learned that, I wanted to be the welg door the gay muny for surance. "I am happy that I helped many gay and lbian upl have a wonrful experience.
This was long before civil unns and gay marriage were legalized.
