As a rult, rather than unrstandg our participants as passive victims of a homophobic or transphobic society, we foc on their agency velopg a queer inty alongsi their experienc of secure acmodatn. There were also perceptns that relig anisatns were more likely to be homophobic or biphobicTrans and non-bary young people faced addnal barriers to accsg shelters and acmodatnTrans young people faced prejudice om service ers and felt that staff were not always equipped to rpond. While the challeng of intifyg and ntactg youth experiencg homelsns make difficult to tablish the exact prevalence of LGBTQ youth homelsns, is timated that lbian, gay, and bisexual (LGB) youth make up 7-9% of the general populatn (Wilson, Cooper, Kastanis, & Nezhad, 2014) but 29% of youth experiencg homelsns (Choi et al., 2015).
