There are a range of gay areas (or “gayborhoods”) Sydney where the muny ngregat at amazg gay bars and clubs, as well as at more laid-back ffee ho and rtrants. Gay areas Sydney: Darlghurst.

Darlghurst is one of Sydney’s ma gay neighborhoods and, back 2016, almost one five upl were men same-sex relatnships.

It’s home to Oxford Street, the center of Sydney’s gay scene wh clubs, bars and f n by and for Sydney’s LGBTQIA+ muny. Today, even though you n fd gay hotspots throughout the cy, Oxford Street remas a major hub for LGBTQIA+ activy and hosts Sydney’s famo Gay and Lbian Mardi Gras, ually held every March on Oxford Street. Potts Pot has historilly been Darlghurst’s ma petn when to Sydney’s gay scene and this harborsi suburb is known for s bnch, boutique shoppg and cuttg-edge street fashn. It also clus part of Kgs Cross, a non-official suburb that was historilly the center of Sydney’s nightlife and home to one of Sydney’s earlit gay bars, the Bottom’s Up Bar. In 2016, jt over 15% of upl Potts Pot were gay men.

If you stay here you’ll be close to the harbor, Sydney’s CBD and many other gay districts, cludg Potts Pot and Darlghurst.

Where Darlghurst has Oxford Street, and Elizabeth Bay and Potts Pot have Kg’s Cross, Surry Hills has Crown Street, a laid-back, village-que strip where you n fd vyl rerd shops, upsle eateri and thrivg gay bars all close to one another. The Berford Hotel on Bourke Street was once solely a gay club and today ’s still very popular wh LGBTQIA+ clientele. It hosts a variety of events, cludg shows and themed nights geared toward gay patrons.
