Ald. Michele Smh who retired Augt. </p><p>Mayor Lori Lightfoot announced the appotment of Knudsen Monday eveng. She prevly named him chairman of the Zong Board 2020. His nomatn is head to the Cy Council Rul Commtee on Tuday before gog to the full Cy Council for a vote Wednday.</p><p>If approved, Knudsen will serve the rt of Smh’s term, which ends May. He’s already <a rel="noreferrer noopener" target="_blank" href=">announced his mpaign</a> to n to keep the seat after that.</p><p>Knudsen is the third alrman Lightfoot has appoted this year, followg <a rel="noreferrer noopener" target="_blank" href=">Ald. Nile Lee (11th)</a> to replace <a rel="noreferrer noopener" target="_blank" href=">nvicted Ald. Patrick Daley Thompson</a> and <a rel="noreferrer noopener" target="_blank" href=">Ald. Monique Stt (24th)</a> to replace her brother, Ald. He’s also a partner at Croke Fairchild Man & Ber, although he’s been on a leave of absence sce July 27, acrdg to s <a rel="noreferrer noopener" target="_blank" href=">webse</a>.</p><p>In his legal role, Knudsen has unseled start-up pani, founrs and their vtors, acrdg to Lightfoot’s office.</p><p>He also found the pro-bono practice at his law firm, which reprents LGBTQ asylum seekers Chigo and Tijuana, Mexi. He’s given legal servic to more than 40 asylum seekers through this work, acrdg to Lightfoot’s office.</p><p>“As I have throughout my legal reer, my public service chairg the Chigo Zong Board of Appeals and my time as a grassroots anizer, I will be an advote and nsens builr as alrman,” Knudsen said. “I brg a passn for private sector rults to public service and am honored to have a new way to give back to the muny I ll home.”</p><p>Knudsen lnched his mpaign for 43rd Ward alrman six weeks ago, and has spent that time gatherg hundreds of signatur and meetg wh rints at Oz Park, over ffee and by knockg on doors, acrdg to a statement Knudsen released Monday.</p><p>Knudsen highlighted public safety, schools and munitn as key issu he’d addrs as alrman. He promised to immediately look to vt alrmanic menu dollars to public safety iativ.</p><p>“Neighbors have told me that they want an alrman who will fight for public safety and public schools, foster open dialogue and champn lol muny lears and anizatns every step of the way,” Knudsen said. “As alrman, I will work every day to answer that ll.”</p><p>Knudsen also received support om proment LGBTQ muny lears, cludg activist Art Johnston, -founr of the Illois Feratn for Human Rights (Equaly Illois) and owner of Sitrack.</p><p>“Knudsen is a lear who has been on my radar for years due to his nsistency showg up to do the unglamoro work and his champng of others dog so,” Johnston said. “Timmy has a rare skill makg all kds of people believe more themselv, and I am so happy this day has e where he is seekg public office.”</p><p>Knudsen was also endorsed by the Victory Fund, a polil actn mtee dited to creasg LGBTQ reprentatn ernment.
