The Elephant Walk had been operatn sce 1974, and quickly gaed fame as one of the first gay bars to have glass wdows facg the street. The bs, which was named after the 1954 film starrg Elizabeth Taylor, was the send gay bar the Castro (after Tw Peaks) and perhaps the entire untry to have plate glass wdows.
