The bevy of state laws ensurg that queer rints of California have accs to the same treatment as other people the state is, perhaps, one reason why the state remas a popular statn for gay upl. C., for example, has most of the same anti-discrimatn laws found natnal lear California, except for legislatn that exprsly prohibs anti-gay discrimatn jury selectn.
But, of urse, New York’s place the battle for acceptance of the LGBTQ+ muny go back much further, as the Stonewall Uprisg, one of the first major ton of the gay rights movement, began June 1969 New York Cy’s Greenwich Village. Unlike the stat at the top of our list, many of those fallg to the bottom have actively hostile laws targetg members of the queer muny, and they often also have yet to pass laws banng thgs like anti-gay discrimatn or nversn therapy.
While Tennsee don’t still crimalize sodomy like Mississippi do, has few laws that bar anti-gay discrimatn and actively bars municipali the state om puttg lol ordanc place to do so. The state lacks anti-discrimatn laws protectg queer dividuals most areas except for lleg and universi, and perms anti-gay discrimatn adoptn and foster placement. Like many others at the bottom of this list, Louisiana do not have laws barrg anti-gay discrimatn hog, employment, or tn, and the state allows relig exemptns to protect those wh anti-gay views.
