Her close iends affectnately ll her “the mayor” bee of how well-nnected she is the queer muny. She’s a multi-disciplary artist wh a heart for muny-buildg, and she attends the event nearly every week.</span></p><p><span>The event was found by bt iends Bailey Salisbury and Sean Monaghan followg the closure of Stud Cy’s</span><a href=" rel="nofollow ugc noopener"> Oil Can Harry’s</a><span>, which hosted regular untry le-dancg nights. The historic venue first opened as a burlque club lled the “Zomba Room” the 1950’s. Sixteen-year-old me uld have never dreamed that a space like this existed.</p><p>Cecilia, the chef on duty last night, has worked for the venue for five years. I asked her how the crowd was tonight. “Todos son amabl,” she said. “They are all very iendly.” When I ver events, I make a pot to talk to everyone volved-at every level. That people are flaky, and only terted what you n provi for them or how many followers you have on Instagram. While I fely have experienced some of that firsthand, hasn’t been my experience overall. I’ve ma some credible iends of all different backgrounds and ag- and perhaps that is bee I largely equent queer events.</p><p>For the most part, at Stud Country I felt like I uld walk up to jt about anyone and strike up a nversatn. One attene I met was a reporter for USA Today. He was undoubtedly one of the most graceful and charismatic dancers on the floor, and I thought he was a profsnal dancer. He told me that he hadn’t had an opportuny to dance ‘sce he was a theatre kid high school.’</p><p><span>I also ran to </span><a href=" rel="nofollow ugc noopener">Kate Wallich</a><span>, the founr of DANCE CHURCH, an clive Natnal dance anizatn that is “ma by dancers, for everyone.” </span><a href=" rel="nofollow ugc noopener">Dance Church</a><span> is an all-levels movement class that offers a fun and clive approach to dancg. Digned for people of all shap and siz, backgrounds and inti, is a munal space for people who want to move their bodi. So if that don’t tert you- you n skip this sectn.</p><p>GETTING AROUND/RESTROOMS: From what I observed, Club Bahia is for the most part, ADA (Amerin Disabili Act) accsible. There is a ramp at the ont entrance. There seems to be at least one larger bathroom stall, but there’s small, sharp rners to get to the rtrooms. The bathrooms are labeled “Women” and “Men” but at Stud Country night, you don’t need to worry about which one you pick.</p><p>SEATING: There is a batn of booths and tabl. The chairs are metal wh vyl, and armls.</p><p>DANCING: The dance floor is crowd at most tim, but there is plenty of space the surroundg areas to watch om a distance, or practice on your own. A lot of people do this!</p><p>LIGHTS: The Dis ball and lights at the event are, my opn, jt the right amount of light actn. I’m pretty sensive to light myself, and had to wear my prcriptn sunglass bee my dumb ass lost my regular ‘scrips. </p><p> SPACE TO BREATHE: I get overstimulated pretty easily, so I was grateful to have an outdoor pat wh plenty of room to breathe. One person was outsi practicg one of the rout! </p><p>PARKING: Parkg is not ial, per the LA standard. I’m not sure if there are handip parkg spots ont. I’d highly remend gettg a ri if possible.
