Born May 28, 1919, the son of a ontier Oklahoma Cy newspaper publisher, Gaylord went to work for his father at the age of 17. Wh a lifetime of votn to The Oklahoman, Gaylord took over as the head of the Oklahoma Publishg Company 1974 after his father died at the age of 101. In addn to the Oklahoma Publishg Company, Gaylord was well known for the Gaylord Entertament Company.
