Choice of Ltle Boy (Enola Gay/Hiroshima) or Fat Man (Bocksr/Nagasaki) weapons. B-29-45-MO, 44-86292, 509 OG, Tian AB, 1945, 'Enola Gay'.
The actns of those two aircraft, the Enola Gay and Bocksr, overshadowed many of the other achievements of the B-29, such as beg the first Air Force refuelg tanker. This release go back to those origal famo pair of B-29s, the Enola Gay and Bocksr, both of which had modifitns to their airame for those special missns. For ls, both aircraft have large tail markgs: Circle R for Enola Gay and Triangle N for Bocksr.

As this year will be the 75th anniversary of the droppg of the world's first atom bomb on Hiroshima Japan, I've cid to build a mol of the famo B-29 Superfortrs that dropped that bomb, namely the 'Enola Gay'. The k I'm g is the Amy release #12528 that is specifilly dited to both of the aircraft that dropped the atom bombs on Hiroshima (Enola Gay) 6th Augt 1945 and also on Nagasaki (Bocksr) three days later on 9th Augt 1945.

Three days later the Enola Gay nducted weather rennaissance the lead-up to the bombg of Nagasaki, Japan. Japan officially surrenred on September 2, Enola Gay remaed service for several years before beg given to the Smhsonian Instutn on July 3, 1949.

The Enola Gay is a B-29 Superfortrs, which pilot Pl Tibbets named after his mother, and which had been stripped of everythg but the necsi, so as to be thoands of pounds lighter than an ordary plane of that make. While did not drop the bomb on Nagasaki, the Enola Gay did take flight to get data on the weather the lead-up to the send strike on Japan.
