WEST CHESTER—After months of discsn, at Wednday’s meetg, Borough Council promised and cid to close Gay Street for the Open Air Market on weekends. The borough recently gaed more ntrol after tradg ownership wh PennDOT of Chtnut Street for Gay Street. The borough seized ntrol of, and now has the abily to, more easily tablish dat and tim for the Gay Street closure and the Open Air Market.
“I n’t drive down Gay Street on a Tuday morng, ” she said. Meters on Gay Street generate about $18, 000 per month between April and October.
“Although this analysis do not measure the amount of revenue lost due to Gay Street beg closed for parkg on weekends between May and September 2022, shows that creas garage revenue suggt the two lotns absorbed some of the mand om the roughly 65 spac lost to the closure, ” reads a Borough Manager Sean Metrick memo distributed to uncil and the mayor.
