The lambda was selected as a symbol by the Gay Activists Alliance of New York 1970, followg the Stonewall Rts, and was clared the ternatnal symbol for gay and lbian rights by the Internatnal Gay Rights Congrs Edburgh, Stland, 1974. The Sttish Mori Group hosted the first ever Internatnal Gay Rights Conference Edburgh om 18 to 22 December 1974.
