Gay Byrne (1934-2019) a rad and televisn broadster was born Dubl and he joed Rad Éireann 1958. From 1973 to 1998, he prented 'The Gay Byrne Hour' on Rad 1.

Gay Byrne was born on Augt 5, 1934 and grew up Rialto on the southsi of Dubl, before movg to the South Circular Road, Dubl, 1944.

After showg an early tert jazz mic and beg spired by Eamonn Andrews, Gay began workg as a broadster 1958 on Rad Éireann, prentg a 15-mute slot dited to jazz on Monday nights. Gay married Kathleen Watks, formerly a well-known harpist, the Church of the Nativy of the Blsed Virg Mary, Saggart, 1964.
In 1973, the hugely-popular Gay Byrne Hour began to air on RTÉ Rad 1.
