The issu of how gays were treated some twenty years before Stonewall is not surprisg but Stevenson do a great job of showg whout too much tellg. The temperature is risg, and so too is the gay bashg, thanks to the police partment and the Cy’s hugely rpt judicial system.

Shake-downs of lbians and gay men are nothg new, but Waterman begs to realize that the spe of the attacks and the size of the brib are latg hugely—along wh the psychologil damage and suicis that the publicy is g among the LGBTQ muny.
