The SMG’s work went far beyond s opposn to Sectn 28, tirelsly mpaigned for gay rights, wh methods such as wrg to fluential Sts askg for their support of petns such as a drive for a Charter Towards Homosexual Rights.

GAY GLASGOW

On 15 November 1999, MSPs were expected to vote on new legislatn which would give gay upl the same rights as hetero-sexuals, allowg gay upl to receive mon-law stat the event of separatn or ath [R1. On 10 December 1999, Jtice Mister Jim Wallace said that a clse to alter the rights of homosexuals lookg after physilly or mentally handipped partners to brg them to le wh heterosexuals would be serted to the Adults wh Inpacy (Stland) Bill currently gog through Parliament. On 21 June 2000, Members of the Sttish Parliament voted 99 to 17 wh two abstentns to abolish the Sectn 28 law barrg the promotn of homosexualy, effective upon Royal Assent July [R1. On 08 June 2017, the Epispal Church Synod Edburgh was reported to have voted to allow gay upl to marry church, meang that gay Christians om any Anglin Church n now ask to be married a Sttish Epispal Church. On 13 October 2014, the Sttish Government announced that gay and lbian upl will be able to marry or nvert their Civil Partnerships to marriage Stland on 31 December 2014, after givg the required 15 days notice when the The Marriage and Civil Partnership (Stland) Act 2014 to force on 16 December 2014.
