Amid cremental progrs tablishg an enablg legal and policy environment for lbian, gay, bisexual, transgenr and queer-intified people, and people wh tersex variatns (LGBTQI+) India, evince gaps on LGBTQI+ health are of creasg ncern. To that end, we nducted a spg review to map and synthize the current evince base, intify rearch gaps, and provi remendatns for future rearch. We nducted a spg review g the Joanna Briggs Instute methodology. We systematilly searched 14 databas to intify peer-reviewed journal articl published English language between January 1, 2010 and November 20, 2021, that reported empiril qualative, quantative or mixed methods data on LGBTQI+ people’s health India. Out of 3,003 rults total, we intified 177 eligible articl; 62% ed quantative, 31% qualative, and 7% mixed methods. The majory (55%) foced on gay and other men who have sex wh men (MSM), 16% transgenr women, and 14% both of the populatns; 4% foced on lbian and bisexual women, and 2% on transmascule people. Overall, studi reported high prevalence of HIV and sexually transmted fectns; multilevel risk factors for HIV; high levels of mental health burn lked to stigma, discrimatn, and vlence victimizatn; and non-availabily of genr-affirmative medil re ernment hospals. Few longudal studi and terventn studi were intified. Fdgs suggt that LGBTQI+ health rearch India needs to move beyond the predomant foc on HIV, and gay men/MSM and transgenr women, to clu mental health and non-munible diseas, and dividuals across the LGBTQI+ spectm. Future rearch should build on largely scriptive studi to clu explanatory and terventn studi, beyond urban to ral s, and exame healthre and service needs among LGBTQI+ people across the life urse. Increased Indian ernment fundg for LGBTQI+ health rearch, cludg dited support and trag for early reer rearchers, is ccial to buildg a prehensive and staable evince base to rm targeted health polici and programs movg forward.
