Defyg the Vatin and right-wg polil groups, tens of thoands of monstrators marched peacefully a gay pri para through central Rome para was one of the last and most ntted events of the weeklong World Pri Roma 2000, an ternatnal gay ftival that was timed to ci wh a Holy Year of the Roman Catholic Church and that the Vatin fiercely opposed.
As turned out, however, the para was lm, peaceful and, acrdg to some participants, a ltle duller than recent gay pri paras New York, Paris and officers had braced themselv for possible vlence after Forza Nuova, a neo-Fascist group, vowed to stage a untermonstratn and to prevent gay marchers om approachg the Colossm. ''I was expectg more disturbanc -- this is much lmer than gay pri paras New York, '' Michael Lavelle, 48, a telemunitns manager om New York Cy, said as he marched back to Circ Maxim, Rome's olst sports arena, which has been the headquarters of the World Pri event. ''Paris was a lot more fun -- there was more mic, more dancg, '' said a Belgian who would give his name only as Patrick and who said he had taken part gay pri paras France, the Netherlands and Germany this year. L'ia piacque a tutti i gppi, sia Arcigay sia di altre anizzazni, tanto più che il Cirlo Mar Mieli, prito all'epo da Imma Battaglia, era rico a farsi assegnare dall'Epoa la se ll'Europri l 2000, per l'ocsne ribattezzato "World Pri". Fortunatamente, dopo l'equivobile vertto l mondo lgbt che aveva "votato i piedi", disertando i Pri lla disrdia, tutti i gppi avevano dovuto fare un primo passo dietro, ed Arcigay aveva annunciato che il Pri l 2000 a Roma sarebbe stato l'uni Italia, modo da ricire a ncentrare le energie.
Alla base i dissensi stava la sorda e pluriennale lotta di potere a Arcigay naznale, ormai il gppo egemone sulla scena poli aliana, e tutti gli altri gppi, che avevano nel Cirlo Mar Mieli di Roma il loro ponente più anizzato e ric (grazie al succso enomi di Mucssassa e ai fanziamenti a pggia da parte lle torà). Alcune lle criche rivolte da quti gppi ad Arcigay erano fondate, partilare per quanto riguardava l'"occh di riguardo" riservato da Arcigay ai Ds (antenati l Pd) rispetto alle igenze di altri parti lla sistra (specie Rifondazne Comunista).
A tale spo aveva fondato il 17 dicembre 1994 Azne omossuale, una ferazne di tutti i gppi non-Arcigay, che nelle tenzni avrebbe dovuto agire da ntraltare ad Arcigay.

Tuttavia Azne omossuale non si rivelò un succso, dato che i gppi tonomi, sofferenti all'egemonia (o "strapotere") di Arcigay, dimostrarono rapidamente di non avere alcuna tenzne di sostuirla n l'egemonia l Mar Mieli.
