If someone wants to make a t gay or, trans, or any other genr or sexualy, don’t mean you have to, their opn don’t have to be yours as well! Bno is gay/aroace.

Bno isn't gay, aromantic, or asexual. In an attempt to shield ourselv om this and make through the day, gay and transgenr dividuals will often take nonilly straight, cisgenr characters and image them as gay or transgenr.

Some will even go as far as to sist that the characters are gay and/or transgenr, fendg their belief agast ments to the ntrary. The are known as gay and transgenr headnons, and they are an unfortunate, necsary evil. When you are scramblg to fd the bart semblance of reprentatn, nvcg yourself that a fictnal character is trans and/or gay seems like a viable alternative.

GAY HEADNON

The first problem I have is I fd difficult to intify actual gay/transgenr characters media when people assign their own sexuali/inti to characters. When people nstantly refer to fictnal characters as gay or transgenr, I beg tung out as whe noise. Bee of this, however, I don’t immediately realize when people talk about actual gay/trans characters media.

Whenever I saw jok about people sistg they weren’t gay, I jt assumed people were talkg about their ialized relatnship between the two. It may seem obv to iends who are faiar wh the source material, but to the unknowg observer there’s not an easy way to tell whether someone’s talkg about an actual gay/trans character or not. When someone pots at any character and starts gog on about how they’re gay or trans, be easier to jt assume they’re always talkg about their headnons.

The other problem, and arguably the far more prsg one, is when the headnons end up takg attentn away om actual gay/trans characters.

I’ll often see people who go on and on about their favore gay/trans headnons whout ever actually sharg or talkg about media ntag actual gay/trans characters. While media ntag posive pictns of trans/gay characters is hard to e by, do exist, and ’s dishearteng to see people ignore or pass up favor of their headnons.

People also tend to foc ls on enuragg better gay/trans reprentatn media when they foc on their headnons, stead twistg thgs that barely remble gay and/or transgenr characters to su them. This creat an odd atmosphere sometim where ’s nsired taboo to pla about lacklter or offensive media pictns of trans/gay characters, for fear would break the illn that all is well. But I also feel focg on them overly much n be somewhat dangero, and tracts om efforts to actually get better trans/gay reprentatn media.
