I had read that the date was 1963, but was rrected by Gayle Rub, who is the greatt historian of the early leather scene. As I hted at the DAUGHTERS OF BILITIS, 1955, poster, there was a divisn between the more assiatnist homophile movement and the ls polil but more diverse bar scen. The early SF leather scene was predomantly (though certaly not exclively) populated by cisgenr, whe, gay men.
