Birch & Gaydon was a bs of retail jewellers, silversmhs and watchmakers that was taken over by Asprey & Co. Henry Mart Gaydon had joed William Birch 1877 as a partner, the partnership was named Birch and Gaydon. Birch & Gaydon, scribed at the time of Birch's retirement as chronometer makers, goldsmhs and jewellers at 172 Fenchurch Street, ntued wh Gaydon as sole partner.
In 1904 Birch & Gaydon moved to 153 Fenchurch St. Ownership of Birch & Gaydon passed to Henry Gaydon's son William, who sold the bs to Asprey & Co. Asprey ntued to e the name Birch & Gaydon for some time, referrg to as their branch the Cy of London.
Asprey adverts the 1960s clud "The cy man will fd a efully close-at-hand service at Asprey and Birch & Gaydon, 153 Fenchurch Street where, bis the prehensive stock held, any piec n be sent om Bond Street at short notice. NB: Some referenc give the name of Birch's partner as Peter Gaydon. This is rrect, as n be seen om the entry the London Gazette for 4 January 1884 shown here, which rerds the retirement of William Birch and the ntuatn of the bs unr Henry Mart Gaydon alone.
