Recently, there has been more attentn to the cril transgenr activism by Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera. Still, there is ltle amic rearch on other drag queen activism historilly between Stonewall and the start of the AIDS epimic. I nducted archival rearch at the Tretter Collectn at the Universy of Mnota. To nduct my rearch on trans/drag activism, I examed the magaze Drag. In my rearch, I found that Drag played an important role the buildg of a trans/drag muny. Durg the 1970s, the trans/drag muny was met wh hostily om the gay and lbian muny, who often ostracized them om their activism. Drag created an expansive drag muny that enpassed a wi spectm of transfeme/drag inti and provid support to that muny.
