Jason Gayne, 36, of Athens, entered his plea durg a brief arraignment before Mae District Court Judge Andrew Benson at the urthoe Skowhegan. Gayne was dicted by a grand jury Thursday and arrted Friday wh four unts of theft by unthorized takg or transfer, two unts of fery and one unt of theft by ceptn.
Gayne’s lawyer, Joshua Tardy of Newport, said Gayne turned himself to police Friday. Prosecutors said durg the hearg that Gayne stole nearly $200, 000 om the chamber and Hospice Volunteers.

Tardy untered that Gayne was not a flight risk and said he was “stunned” that Gayne had been issued an arrt warrant at all, stead of a summons.
