LOST GAY SYDNEY GROUP SHAR MEMORI OF EARLY QUEER SCENE
In 1986, the AFI partnered wh what was then the Sydney Gay and Lbian Mardi Gras, to prent an annual ‘Sydney Gay Film Week’. In 1993, a group of queer Sydney filmmakers, stunts, and supporters approached Sydney Gay and Lbian Mardi Gras to tablish an pennt anisatn whose foc would be queer film and screen culture.
A new book, CAMP: Atralia’s pneer homosexual rights activists by 78ers Robyn Kennedy and Robyn Plaister, brgs to life the val role of CAMP activists. In the book, CAMP members om across Atralia talk about their experienc and the life-changg support CAMP offered at a time when lbians and gay men were spised by much of society.
