Asian-born gay, bisexual and other men who have sex wh men (gbMSM) newly arrived Atralia are more than four tim as likely than their Atralian-born unterparts to be diagnosed wh cint HIV. Our aim was to explore experienc of Asian-born gbMSM newly arrived Atralia and attendg a sexual health centre wh regards to their knowledge of and preference for HIV preventn strategi. Twenty-four gbMSM aged 20–30 years attendg Melbourne Sexual Health Centre who were born Asia and arrived Atralia the precedg four years, participated semi-stctured face-to-face terviews om 8th May 2019 and 23rd December 2019. Men were exclud if they were livg wh HIV. Interviews were rerd, transcribed verbatim and analysed thematilly. Men reported ltle knowledge of HIV preventn strategi outsi of ndom e prr to g to Atralia. Although participants reported basic knowledge of HIV transmissn and treatment, exposure to sexual inty and HIV-related stigma their untri of birth meant they imaged a HIV diagnosis would be vastatg. Most relied on ndoms to stay HIV negative however their nsistency of e varied. Seven men were on pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP); all but one started PrEP after g to Atralia. Many dited tert PrEP but scribed as too expensive given they do not have accs to ernment-subsidized healthre. Sexual health unsellg and nnectns wh LGBTQI muny groups appeared to facilate PrEP and nsistent ndom e.
