The Termal Bar's neon signs flickered at the southeast rner for s, a false bean of hope a darker part of town. Even if you were never one of the down-and-outs on the si, you probably know om <em>Taxi Driver</em>, or this doc: </p><p><iame width="640" height="360" src="// ameborr="0" allowfullscreen=""></iame></p><p>The place—which transformed om an Irish to a gay bar over time—survived through 1982 (the New York Tim Buildg is there now), and a photo book was jt published documentg s fal . <a href=" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><em>The Termal Bar</em></a> was put together by Stefan Nalman, who wr the troductn:</p><blockquote><p>"In 1956 my grandfather Murray Goldman acquired the lease... At the time, his brother--law Bernie and Arnie ran a Manhattan bar lled the Peppermt Lounge, and they enuraged him to get the bs, too. Over the years he beme an important figure the Tim Square scene. People lled him 'The Godfather.' The atmosphere, mographic, and name of The Termal Bar were dictated by s lotn: directly across om Port Authory.
