Ten black, Asian and Latx people who intify as lbian, gay, bisexual or transgenr told VICE World News about racist cints wh staff and ctomers and around the cy’s Gay Village. Manchter is known as the “gay pal of the North”, wh LGBTQ historil landmarks fillg the cy. Manchter’s Gay Village is the regn’s ma area for LGBTQ nightlife, and is one of the olst and most tablished gay muni Europe.
On the 29th of July this year, Lucky Roy Sgh was told “get out you paki” by a secury guard at Via, a bar the Gay Village. The group of six was holdg a meetg the cy centre to discs some upg gigs, then cid to go out the Gay Village. Darren Jackson, 57, has spent several years gog out on the gay scene Manchter, and he says he has repeatedly experienced racism the Village.
