In this se 'Gay' substutg 'Pray' do mark one of the book's strengths, and ironilly one of s weakns as well. Of urse, the gay ntext was the ma reason I bought this book, and while I enjoyed learng about Berl's gay unrground clubs etc., the gay partyg is lackg the pth that the spirual aspect of 'Eat, Pray, Love' did provi.

All all though EGL mak for a worthwhile and enjoyable lgbt memoir793 reviews9 followersMay 9, 2020Eat, Gay, Love is a book you will eher absolutely adore for Calum McSwiggan ndour and openns his personal journey and the people he meets a long the way, or you hate and thk 's far fetched and simplistic. October 16, 2021Calum has everythg he's ever wanted, an enjoyable job, a nice home, supportive parents and a steady lovg partner, one night his partner is asslted an homophobic attack and their liv beg to fall apart.

Each adventure is grippg to read and I really liked the way that the thor his experienc to explore aspects of LGBT life cludg the difficulti and ways of livg as LGBT untri where beg gay or trans is illegal. Its not an -pth exploratn or narrative of LGBT+ people and some of the issu they face travellg or a cultural exploratn of LGBT+ issu and liv but is an dividual memoir that looks at the experienc of travel through the ey of a young gay man. Addnally, I also felt that the typil ton and problems faced by the queer muny are almost forced to the storyle eg: g out, isolatn, gay rights, nartic abe, SA.

This memoir is a rellectn of his travels and what each of them meant to him as a young gay man. Italy is still very nservative, as proven by the populary of populism parti that navigate sexism, homophobia and racism.

The sual homophobia is rampant there.
