” It’s the classic “Big Mouth” formula: an edgy edic asi that highlights the hypocrisy of paful homophobic and transphobic moments through humor. I’m about to scream, thkg my favore character is about to realize she’s gay—until the love bug says at the start of Episo 4 that she’s there to celebrate the love of two bt iends. You know the type—characters who may act or feel gay, but explicly date the oppose genr (or don’t date at all) Bilzerian (voiced by the always funny Jason Mantzoas) out as bisexual Season 4, Episo 8, and by the end of Season 6 he’s experienced relatnships wh both boys and is personally one of my favore bisexual characters, perd.
Matthew is openly gay at school, but mt lie about his inty at home to f wh his nservative (and homophobic) fay. But there is a character for everyone to relate to on this six short seasons, Big Mouth has addrsed the experienc of preteens who are gay, bisexual, pansexual, qutng, trans, and asexual—not to mentn experienc related to race, class, body image, relign, and fay.
That happened season 4 when Matthew me out as gay to his dad. While they ed humor ("I drove you to tap class") and his dad pared wh Fuller Hoe, was still a great moment where Matthew received the nfirmatn he need that his dad loved and didn't re if he was gay or straight. Any moment om his journey to e out as openly gay to his parents will warm the heart of anyone who’s ever worried about acceptance and belongg, pecially young queer kids seeg themselv onscreen.
