Gay Pri or rather LGBTQ+ pri events (ed to be more clive), cludg pri paras and ftivals were started major urban centers to improve the visibily, acceptance and legal protectns for LGBTQ+ people livg those muni. Promoted as “a fair for a fair law” the first Gay and Lbian Fair 1986 was tablished to raise support for Homosexual Law Reform. Found 2000 as part of the Hero ftival, Big Gay Out was taken over by the New Zealand AIDS Foundatn 2003 and ntu to be celebrated annually, raisg awarens for AIDS preventn Aotearoa.
