Thanks to plac such as Delmoni’s, Katie’s Bar, AXM and nights such as Hot Ms and Shoot Your Shot, Glasgow pre-lockdown had a thrivg gay pub and club scene.

From a time when Glasgow uld be nsired a hostile place for the gay muny - and not jt bee the participatn homosexual acts was emed a crimal offence.

This meant that bars the 1960s were fairly discreet, until a gay scene appeared almost overnight the cy the early 1970s. Before then Glasgow’s gay scene was effectively centred around hoe parti - the most famo of which took place regularly at Novar Drive the Hyndland area. In the early 1970s, The De of Wellgton Argyle Street was one of the first pubs that was taken over by Glasgow’s LGBT+ muny, wh the Waterloo Bar next door also havg a reputatn of beg both gay (and prostute) iendly.
