In 1994, the Gay Birrs’ Club was found the UK, and a year later, a siar group, lled GAGGLE, was tablished Atlanta, Geia. Around that time, Jennifer Rycenga, who’s now a profsor of relig studi at San Jose State Universy, was searchg for a gay-leang birdg group San Francis. Today, some two s after the first gay-birdg groups formed, outdoor spac are signifintly more diverse, acceptg, and safe.
“I’m black, gay, and non-Christian, ” says Chris Cooper, a board member for NYC Audubon. The Gay Birrs’ Club (GBC) is markg s 25-year anniversary by raisg funds to help buy 25 acr of fort Mexi. Found 1995 by a group of 10 gay men, gay women soon joed and the club grew rapidly.
