This sy bar is one of Edburgh’s longt-nng gay bars, known for s iendly atmosphere and reasonably priced drks (and also sponsors the Hot Sts, Stland’s first-ever LGBTQ football team).

GAY’S THE WORD, LONDON

Paradise Palms isn’t exactly a gay bar, but attracts a lot of LGBTQ patrons wh s funky r, creative dg optns, and drag baret. It has s roots march, celebratns, and monstratns of the late 1980s and 1990s, cludg the Lark the Park events that began as a prott agast Sectn 28, a seri of laws across Bra that prohibed promotns of homosexualy. While ’s not specifilly a gay hotel, the lotn is nvenient for those headg to the Pk Triangle, and you’ll likely n to other LGBTQ travellers here and strike up a nversatn.

Tigerlily isn’t jt a hotel popular among LGBTQ travellers – s downstairs bar and rtrant is also a known hotspot for LGBTQ lols (even though ’s not technilly a gay bar). Or was there ed a lbian affair beg nducted wh the school by the two school mistrs, dismissed thanks to prejudiced views about homosexualy and the young accer? Dean, the landlord of The Village where I -n the Village Pub Theatre, told me all about the gay nightclub that began s life what is now Edburgh’s flagship Waterston.

At the same time, Stland’s first gay nightclub ‘Fire Island’ had jt appeared on the scene the B-listed buildg now home to Waterston on Prc Street. Bob and Raymond took me on a whistle-stop tour of the cy’s gay past and was on one of the stops, that I first enuntered Lavenr Menace, Edburgh’s one-time femist, lbian and gay Bookshop, which opened on Forth Street 1982. His plays are published by Oberon Books, and clu Love Song to Lavenr Menace for Royal Lycm Theatre, I Heart Maths for A Play, A Pie and A Pt and Spa for Glasgay!
