You didn't realize that was the 44th anniversary of Canada's only Annual gay Holiday? In the late 70's an natnal anizatn of Canada's lbians and gays existed lled the Canadian Lbian and Gay Rights Coaln (CLGRC).
The 1979 nference was held Ottawa and those legat were celebratg the first major legal victory, for the Canadian Lbian and Gay Rights movement.
CLGRC wanted to memorate that victory and sce the urt's cisn had been hand down on Febary 14th, they cid to clare an Annual Gay Holiday to be held every year on that day. Although the 14th was ually memorated as Valente's Day, the legat wanted to take this opportuny to challenge what Christopher Isherwood has lled the "heterosexual dictatorship" by affirmg for ourselv and for the world, the existence, the strength, and the bety of gay love. Pk Triangle Day was never tend to be a gay/lbian py of Valente's Day.
