Gay, longtime Sanford rint and beloved high school teacher, was head football ach at Sanford Central High School (now Lee County High School) for 24 years. Unr Coach Gay’s learship the school won 177 gam, cludg three nsecutive Eastern Regnal tl and the 1973 state champnship. When Gay passed away at age 90 March 2022, Lee County High School Athletic Booster Club member Betsie Wilkson led a fundraisg mpaign to tablish the Pl B.
