An unual sight greeted many of the patrons who filled the Arn Theatre Company’s Ardia Stage for the openg night of the First Annual Philalphia Gay and Lbian Theatre Ftival: On stage was LDQ, a youth improv group that performs neighborhood schools to illtrate the many issu facg gay and lbian teens. It was an appropriate openg to the ftival that the outreach programs are often the only gay, lbian, bisexual, and transgenr-themed work performed the area.
Mary… follows a homophobic hoewife named Kathleen (the lightful Anne Czan), whose recently ceased drag queen siblg she refers to as “the brother I never had and the sister I never wanted. In I Am Joe’s Prostate, Delaney and the equally good Pat Doran played a uple of regular guys whose latent homosexual tennci emerge wh amg rults, while Gger Lazas’ monologue Lemona saw Er Reilly (sensatnal earlier this season Adam Rapp’s Nocturne) give a poignant and well-librated performance as a lbian mic teacher preachg on the pfalls of love to her send gra class. Stctured like an actg exercise, the short play sps a number of variatns on a son (Doran) tellg his father (Jeff Solomon) that he is gay.
