Yet even if no one says , Weird Barbie is clearly Gay Barbie.

The mastream populary of boy bands wtern mic almost ensur that one or two members of each group intifi as gay, bisexual or queer.

Most out gay boy band members talk about their early reer days of havg dual personas - the public heterosexual teen male, and the private gay dividual - creatg an thenticy paradox. There have been sporadic attempts to create succsful all-gay boy bands to ter to the LGBTQ dance club crowd.

PRI MONTH COM AND GO, BUT THE BOND BETWEEN GAYS AND LUXURY IS FOREVER

Neverthels, there is a group of notable boy band members who publicly intify as gay, bisexual or queer. From the perspective of the “average” outsir lookg , the LGBTQIAP2+ muny may seem a ltle…, gay! In this se, I’m utilizg jt one of the historil fns of the word gay, meang joyo, brightly-lored, cheerful, bright and showy.

Before we dive to our prsg qutn, the spir of pri month, let’s te ourselv on what the world means when they say gay. Then the 16th century the term evolv to clu sexualy as part of the fn, referrg to “gay” people as hedonistic or ivolo.

Contug wh the theme of sexualy, the 18th century a brothel might also have been lled a “gay” hoe. Though wasn’t until the 19th and early 20th century when the term gay grew to clu not only them of sexualy, but also the scriptn of same-sex relatnships. There is also a history ( the 1900s) behd the e of the word homosexual to refer to same-sex relatnships; however, that word is a b trickier to e today as was closely tied to the (often religly fueled) movement to “cure the s that is homosexualy” the viants of society or that homosexualy was herently a mental illns or psychologil disorr.

WH JOCKSTRAPS HTG THE RUNWAYS, FASHN IS SAYG GAY LOUD AND CLEAR

Fally, the Mid-20th century, the meang of gay began to clu same-sex attractn, particularly male same-sex attractn, as the term is often ed today: to scribe the male populatn that feels emotnal, sexual, and romantic attractn towards other men.

The word gay n even be ed to refer to the LGBTQ+ muny as a whole. Now that we unrstand the history of the terms we’re g, we n attack our primary qutn: why are the gays so goddamn loud? The followg are a llectn of my thoughts, based on my lived and profsnal experience as a gay/queer man.

I did a ltle brastorm addn to some onle rearch, and the followg are some reasons I thk the gays are jt so goddamn loud…. Before g out as gay, most of my life revolved around tryg to f to box I knew I jt didn’t f to. Now, this story ti back to our ma qutn very simply…once I gaed urage, more knowledge, and better (more warmhearted) self-awarens I was able to e out as gay; and once that procs was over and everyone my life knew, for the first time I uld be my thentic self whout fear of retributn, hell-fire, or beg ostracized by everyone I loved.

THE 8 TOP GAY CIS FOR 2023

Here, I believe that the dimishg of fear, growth of urage, and oftentim newfound happs our own sk make up some of the ntributg factors to why the gays may be lour and prour than good ole hetero-Joe. It’s the norm for people to know I’m gay and I’m proud of .

So, for this reason, I no longer lim myself when to thgs that might easily label me as gay. And some wh differg valu may still see the thgs as negative, “too gay, ” or “too loud, ” but om my perspective, I’m jt enjoyg the happs and pri myself that I found at some pot durg my very long journey of self-acceptance. The fal reason I thk the gays are jt so dang out there is a b more ncrete and I have ls personal experience wh this due to my gay inty.

When an dividual out as bisexual, an unfortunate but all too mon rponse is, “Oh, you’re probably jt gay/lbian and haven’t realized yet” or the “Sure you’re not jt too sred to e out as fully gay? Given this history of thenticy, fear, and erasure I thk ’s pretty clear why the LGBTQ+ muny is jt a b lour, brighter, and gayer than others.
