On the first anniversary of the 1969 Stonewall Rts, a march set out om Greenwich Village toward Central Park, culmatg a “gay-” at Sheep Meadow. Organizers were surprised to see thoands of people turn out to prott anti-gay sentiment and promote gay pri durg what was then lled the Christopher Street Liberatn Day March.
