We did not fd strong support for the other hypoth; mal were not more likely to offer sex to reproductively viable femal (H2), nflicts over food were not more likely to rult sexual forms of post-nflict affiliatn (H3), and iends were not more likely to e sexual ntacts pared to other non-sexual forms of ntacts (H4).</p><p class="paywall"><strong>Q:</strong> Why do you thk bonobos e sexual ntacts so equently to relieve strs?</p><p class="paywall"><strong>Clay:</strong> More rearch on the physlogy and hormonal profil of bonobos is need to answer this qutn, but seems that the sexual physlogy of bonobos is closely related to their strs alleviatn. This may be have to do wh the bbg of sexual ans g rctns rtisol levels the blood or g creas 'bondg' hormon such as oxytoc or vasoprs. It is still rather a mystery why bonobos have evolved to e this addnal tool for strs relief addn to more mon forms such as touchg or embracg. Neverthels, although bonobos e sexual ntacts pecially equently and habually strsful ntexts, the relatnship between strs and non-reproductive sexual ntacts is actually que wily observed across numero animals, cludg humans of urse.
