Origally formed October 2001 to reprent Sydney the 2002 Gay Gam, the club is now a well-known part of the Sydney LGBTIQ+ sportg and water polo muni. From Tsunami Polo's humble begngs 2000, when we bobbled along the three-foot-ep bottom of Haton Pool durg the staff's lunch break, the team has grown to over fifty members, hosted an ternatnal petn at one of the ft pools the world and recently placed send at Gay Gam IX Cleveland, OH. Sometime 1999, team founr Jim Ruggiero received a phone ll om Felipe Munoz, who was lamentg the fact that no gay water polo team existed the Bay Area.
The last SF team - "Homopolo" - fold the late 1980s, and while a number of other Amerin ci like L. C., Philalphia and New York had succsful gay water polo teams, San Francis did not. In early 2000, missg his former polo team New York Cy and wantg to retablish gay and lbian water polo the Bay Area, Jim posted a signup list at a Tsuanmi Swim workout.
We entered our first IGLA (Internatnal Gay and Lbian Aquatics) world champnships Toronto, Canada, 2001, wh two teams and some new talent, cludg Chip Conley (a former Stanford player), John Dome, Christa McCall (USC) and Mike Slyter.
