But one of the odd qutns I was asked when terviewed for this episo was to talk about “gay” crabs, or what lol market vendors refer to as “bakla”.

While I never actively disputed the whole ncept of same sex preferenc crab liaisons, I never really bought the ia of that they were gay — not to mentn wonrg if vendors distguished between gay mal or lbian crabs… So typil Marketman fashn, wh a b of rearch, a trip to the seasi market and a PHP600 purchase of three betiful specimens, the are my nclns… Read on and perhaps learn somethg new.

This is what lol vendors refer to as a GAY or “BAKLA” crab. But the lor of the shell is lighter and seems somewhere between a clearly male specimen and a clearly female specimen, hence s lol signatn as beg gay… go figure the logic there.

:) But is NOT NECESSARILY GAY or BAKLA and so y, those vendors have been pullg your leg, and speakg whout factual ntent. I thought nice to name this crab a “dalaga” rather than a “manang” li of “bakla” — but as someone poted out, the days, many “dalagas” a’t so virtuo… So for lack of a better word, the next time I go to the market, I will tell the vendor isn’t gay, ’s a female virg crab…:). When the lady vendor referred to the “gay” crabs, i was already thkg a ‘rrectn’ g om you … hahaha!
