The tour is ee, although donatns are accepted and those who give at least $30 will receive a T-shirt. Rirs are strongly enuraged to wear a helmet.</p><p>About 25 ee Divvy bik are available to adults on a first-e, first-serve basis, while a trolley is available for those who n’t or don’t want to bike.</p><p>The <a rel="noreferrer noopener" target="_blank" href=">two-hour tour will travel about seven </a> through Bronzeville and Bridgeport. Guis will tell the history of the racist killg of 17-year old Eugene Williams 1919, the massive rt that followed and the cint’s impacts on morn-day Chigo.</p><p>As Williams swam wh his iends Lake Michigan on July 27, 1919, the group of Black youth unknowgly floated across an imagary racial dividg le. The glass markers are shaped like bricks, which were weaponized durg the rt, he said.</p><p>“Some different muny, historil and artistic groups have the last few years started to velop a culture around the history of 1919,” Cole said. “Once the markers are stalled, that [memoratn] will be 365 days a year, as opposed to one or two days a year.”</p><p><a rel="noreferrer noopener" target="_blank" href=">Firebird Communy Arts</a>, a Garfield Park-based stud that teach glassblowg to youth healg om vlence and trma, is creatg the markers and will display prototyp at Saturday’s event.</p><p>The memorial art project received a $200,000 grant that was announced on Jueenth. The money — which was <a rel="noreferrer noopener" target="_blank" href=">award by the cy but paid for by the Mellon Foundatn</a> — is a wele boost to the team of artists and supporters, Cole said.</p><p>However, the grant ndns will likely slow down a project that’s already taken several years to pull together. Cy officials have asked anizers to expand the art project wh the flux of sh, to weatherproof the glass markers and make them more noticeable to passersby, Cole said.</p><p>“More money means we n do more [wh the art stallatn], but the cy is also sayg, ‘We don’t want to move forward until we’ve figured out the whole thg,’ ” Cole said. </p><p>“We’ve been workg on for better part of five years, and we were exced to move on to the next step,” he said. “Instead, we’re exced to receive money and rourc om the cy and wa.”</p><p>The Chigo Torture Jtice Memorial, for which the cy <a rel="noreferrer noopener" target="_blank" href=">layed s promise to allote funds for years</a>, received a $1.8 ln grant om the Mellon Foundatn through the same program last month.
