No Left Turn sign21st and Delancey StreetsIn the 1960s and 1970s, Rtenhoe Square was the center of gay life Philalphia, and the first Pri march Philly started at Rtenhoe Square and end at Inpennce Hall.
Rtenhoe Square was also a popular cisg spot for gay men, and Delancey Street was known as the “Merry-go-round.
” In 1968, she helped start a new group lled the Homophile Actn League. Gtgs was stmental anizg protts and monstratns throughout the 1960s and 1970s, promoted posive LGBTQ lerature public librari, and was part of the fight to change the Amerin Psychiatric Associatn’s classifitn of homosexualy as a mental illns. The heart of Gayborhood is named after her.
