OVER 6,000 UNED METHODIST NGREGATNS VOTED TO LEAVE THE NOMATN AS BE MORE FLEXIBLE WH GAY MARRIAGE AND LGBTQ+ MISTERS
This article is the rult of ethnographic fieldwork among amatr dancers, maly among gay adolcents om the outskirts of Salvador Bahia (Brazil), who label themselv as “flexible”. This self-fn aris out of bodily flexibily techniqu, cultivated through tense physil work. By focg on specific trag suatns, such as stretchg exercis, I trace unrstand how the “flexible” body is built. I propose that the language mobilized by the young people offer an important gui to unrstandg the distctive elements of this practice. The practners’ acunts and my own observatns of the practice dite that the embodiment of acrobatic skills occurs a procs that weav body and environment. Followg Ingold, I argue that an elogil approach help to prehend this kthetic practice as spatial realizatn, as well as providg eful sights to s learng practic explorg the richly sensory dimensn of learng practic and velopment of motor sensibili, such as the sound and the imperative pa experience. Furthermore, I analyze how my terlocutors’ ncept of body fs the theoretil ia of how bodi should not be fed by what they are, but rather by what they are able to do. * flexible gay *
This year alone, 4, 172 ngregatns left, acrdg to an unofficial tally by Uned Methodist News the church forbids the marriage or ordatn of “self-avowed, practicg homosexuals, ” many church and nferenc fy those bans. Conservativ May 2022 officially lnched a new Global Methodist Church, where they plan to mata and enforce bans on thgs that clu gay misters and same-sex weddgs. LGBTQ+ rponseWhile some partg church allow LGBTQ+ members, ’s an unacceptable double standard when they let LGBTQ+ people attend their servic but refe to marry them, said Sonja Feist, print of the Topeka chapter of Parents, Fay and Friends of Lbians and told The Capal-Journal she didn't see how a church that bans same-sex marriage n claim to be welg to gay people.
This is the sense that forms homosexual, which, as an adjective, refers to sexual attractn to people of the same sex, and as a noun, to people havg such an attractn. In other words, homoflexible is not a prefix pl a base word but is a pound of the word homo ("homosexual") and the word flexible, whose sense relatg to beg willg to try different thgs dat to the 16th century.

Acrdg to prt evince, the slangy homoflexible was formed the early 21st century, and is ed to scribe a person who is primarily attracted to those of the same sex but who is also sometim attracted to the oppose sex. "I live wh straight guys now, and I fely see the sexual tensns, which have ma me very unfortable, " said one stunt, who scribed himself as "homoflexible" and asked not to be named bee his parents are unaware of his sexual orientatn.

How are the words Flexible and Gay related? Flexible and Gay are synonymo, and they have mutual synonyms. * flexible gay *
Each person may intify as another label at different of the mon misnceptns people have about bisexualy also apply to those who intify as homoflexible or heteroflexible. While some people who intify as homoflexible or heteroflexible may also intify as polyamoro (havg multiple partners at one time), aga is a myth that the people are somehow greedy by nature. Though some people fd helpful or thartic to e out, you do not need to be open about your sexual inty wh anyone you don’t want you expla to someone what means to intify as homoflexible or heteroflexible, you n provi as much tail as you’d like.
You n simply expla that you are primarily attracted to people of the same sex but sometim feel attracted to someone of another sex (homoflexible), or that you primarily intify as straight but sometim feel attracted to people of the same sex (heteroflexible). IntroductnAfter almost a of experience wh dance culture among gay teenagers of lor who live on the outskirts of the cy of Salvador Bahia, I have heard and observed many stori that ttify to the personal, physil, and real volvement of many of them wh dance. Participatn dance groups ma up of gay iends and neighbors that rehearse and prent choreographi to popular dance mic, is part of the trajectory of their nstctn of a sense of gay self and ethnographic subjects, the majory of whom are participants or ex-members of such dance groups, are part of that sectn of the gay muny for whom this artistic activy seems to offer an environment of playful sociabily sufficiently open to an exploratory attu terms of a kthetics that is non-normative relatn to the purpos of this article, I only nsir amatr gay dancers who, referrg to a set of bodily flexibily techniqu which they learn, ll themselv flexible.

Such a practice, however, is still srcely I translated the emic tegory wh which my terlocutors signate themselv, “flexible gay”, as “flexible gay man”, wh the tentn of producg a more fluid text for the Anglo-Saxon rear, I need to unrle somethg that may be ncealed by this translatn.
The flexible gay youths who participated the rearch refer to their lleagu not only as gay, but nearly always, as “the gay (a gay)”–unrstandg that the “a” is the feme fe article at tim they rerved this lguistic nstctn for people wh whom they were not particularly sympathetic, they generally teract wh their iends referrg to them as viado or bicha.
The sounds that rult om the impact of a body that is acrobatilly lnched onto a specific surface n also be heard when we pay attentn to the retellg of their performance of the flexible gay men themselv. The onomatopoeia participat the narrativ produced, vtg them wh more realy, to the extent that the sound lls our attentn to the richly sensory facet of the practice; on one hand, for the effects, cludg the nois, provoked by the sudn character of some movements, and on the other, regardg how the movement is topics nsired here regardg the theme of the assiatn of the gymnastic abili emerge, therefore, not only through the scriptns produced through participant observatn, but om the retellg of the flexible gay men.
JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS ASSISTANT STRENGTH ACH KEV MAXEN OUT PUBLICLY AS GAY
In this directn, the language of my rearch participants employs exprsns that are key to unrstandg the practice and of the physil transformatn that mak them petent to act the “dance world” as flexible gay article do not tend to exhstively scribe the rout of assiatn of the abili of the flexible gay man. Followg this, I outle some methodologil nsiratns regardg this rearch and, before proceedg wh the analysis self, I show an ethnographic vigte which a flexible gay is actn. Be an direct manner or as emergg more directly om a rearch qutn, we are able to fd reports regardg the role of homosexuals om the Brazilian urban periphery public dance prentatns diverse rearch settgs that range om the popular street party (Noleto 2016; Bilate 2017; Silva 2019) to the relig field, notably Ao-Brazilian religns1 (Lans 1940; Leack and Leack 1972; Fry 1986; Birman 1995).
Keepg md the differenc between ntexts and the danc enacted, dance emerg related studi, as suggted eher by the rearchers or by the terlocutors, as a loc of genr and sexualy productn, the spac that open materially to the artistic agency of the gay youths. The favore dance genr of the flexible gay men, which are also some of the most popular among the poor, black urban youth of the cy of Salvador Bahia, are funk r and pago r is an electronic rhythm fluenced by Miami bass, a variety of US hip-hop (Palombi 2014) and by etyle, while pago baiano has s origs a rereadg of the so-lled samba roda, a mic produced g a batn of hand percsn and dms, acpanied at tim also by a type of guar (cf.

Flexible gay men produce a brilage based on the creative rporatn of gtur nventnally dified terms of genr and diverse elements of rhythmic gymnastics, which has also been referred to as the most female of sports (see Hökelmann et al. There is another relatnship between the dance and the productn of genr which is important to I observed this ethnographic immersn, the kthetic practic of the flexible gay men are associated wh a typil way of beg gay the outskirts of Salvador, and maybe many Brazilian suburbs.
Although he do not e the vobulary, performance equivalent to fechação n be found the scriptns of Birman (1995) regardg the role of homosexuals through dance an Ao-Brazilian relign. They are not only exaggerated gtur but exaggeratedly feme all this md, if funk r and pago baiano tend to be danced groups divid along genr l, is easy to suppose that is not on the men’s si that the flexible gay men wish to dance.
The flexible gay men mark their cln the tegory “man” by dramatizg their femy through certa bodily movements, but also the way which they teract wh one another, as I will as a kthetic productn will be the topic of future papers. Associatg the term wh performance the field of flexibily signified appreciatg the excellence of a dancer and their act of llg attentn to onelf, a behavr that even heterosexuals om the suburban areas expect their gay neighbors to monstrate, clearly nnects self wh the practice of flexibily, and wh a petence certa bodily techniqu.
THUNR WAIVE RUDY GAY
As will be seen, will be hard to perform acrobatic body techniqu if one do not persevere, day after day, the practice of beg flexible, all the gays this rearch learned how to dance.
Many of the youths wh whom I worked were, durg the field work, lked wh or (were ex-members of) dance groups, formed general by people om their neighborhood–gay men and women.
In the outgs, I naturally got to know other flexible gay men, who took me to other ho, neighborhoods, and spac the cy where flexibily was center the participant observatn that I nducted, which lasted approximately eight months, I got to know and live wh 50 Ao-Brazilian youths.
