KHACHATURIAN – LULLABY OM GAYANE (PIANO ARR.) WH SHEET MIC
Khachaturian is bt known for his ballet mic—Gayane (1942) and Spartac (1954). His most popular piece, the “Sabre Dance” om Gayane, has been ed extensively popular culture and has been vered by a number of micians worldwi. The first performance took place on 9 December 1942, staged by the Kirov Ballet while Perm, Rsia, durg the Send World War evacuatn, and was broadst on the prcipal dancers were: Natalia Dudskaya (Gayane), Nikolai Zubkovsky (Karen), Konstant Sergeyev (Armen), Tatanya Vechlova (Nune), and Boris Shavrov (Giko).
The ballet Gayane was mostly succsful when danced before Joseph Stal;performanc outsi the USSR have been equent. Excerpts om Gayane are performed by dance pani and dance schools, pecially the weddg the send act: wonrful duets and variatns for Gayane and Kazakov, her lover.
KHACHATURIAN: GAYNE (COMPLETE BALLET)
When crics analysed Gayane, they saw that, strict ballet terms, is not pletely succsful as a whole, bee of s naïve libretto and s overtly social emphasis, yet, choreographers, crics, and historians persuad the Kirov Theatre to profably stage excerpts of the ballet. The “Variatn of Gayane”, the “Variatn of Giko”, and the character danc were effectively done and subsequently danced as gala piec. After s premiere Perm, Anisimova twice rtaged Gayane for the Kirov and after revisn, the 1952 versn stands as the five versn of Gayane.
GAYANE LEVONOVNA KHACHATURIAN
The dance Gayane did not follow the Petipa tradn, for example Swan Lake, where the dience is treated to natnal dance discrete divertissements of “danc of le salon”, Petipa’s words; ntrast, the dance Gayane, by force of character, is felt throughout the ballet; is a natural part of the people and of their history. Gayane is an excellent example of character dance and ballet bed; s artistic value to twentieth-century Soviet choreography is signifint. 0 out of 5 starsColourful ExotiReviewed the Uned Stat on Febary 4, 2021Wh so few “plete” traversals of Aram Khachaturian’s Gayane ballet, pecially the mic om his origal nceptn om the 40’s as is here (not the ls tertg revisns he ma the 50’s and 60’s), this rerdg is an easy remendatn.
The uplgs of Khachaturian’s Spartac selectns, the Masquera Sue, and the Rsian Fantasy make this release burst at the seams; nearly 2-and-a-half hours stuffed wh exotic orchtral said, I am not totally nvced by his mic Gayane. I like the csant percsn and variety thereof, glorly portrayed Lezghka, the oodl of wd featur and “Fertile Crcent” exoticisms that permeate his sr; but que ankly, there isn’t much variety wh each sectn, as Gayane’s Adag, and sometim there jt isn’t all that much gog on of tert is pecially noticeable when listeng to all of Gayane direct parison wh the selectns om Spartac and the Sue om Khachaturian’s Masquera cintal mic. The other works are swollen wh big Romantic tun ala Rachmanov, but perhaps their ncisens work better small dos; we get about 100 mut of Gayane, as opposed to 25 mut of Spartac and 15+ of Masquera, pl the 5-mute Rsian Fantasy.
90% of what we get here this performance of Gayane n be found the three ncert su. Oddly, Tjeknavorian arrang the parts of Gayane out of orr - not the sequence of events om the ballet nor the ncert orr of the Su, and none of the physil media rmatn tells where this mic li the actn of the story; slightly, the sound.

The ficienci are most apparent when London plays on the send half of the program better fily, but overall, the sound didn’t bother me much sce the lours show through well, and parison to other rerdgs of this mic wh scrappy technique and dim Rsian rerdgs, the London ensembl play at a much higher level of virtuosy and Tjeknavorian is a solidly balanced two big rerdgs of Gayane are André Anichanov on Naxos who give the three su, but which only adds up to 50+ mut of mic wh not-so-hot playg, and Djansug Kakhidze on a Rsian label which, while is a solid 140 mut of pure Gayane, is the lser 50’s revisn missg much of this mic, and Kakhidze’s scrappy, headlong orchtral leadg is RCA rerdg is Remend for the origal 40’s Gayane 75% pletens led strongly by Loris Tjeknavorian. The 2005 remastered sound didn’t bother me as much as others, my exceptns me om the bloy atic and Khachaturian’s ls spired, repetive style Gayane, although is filled wh exoti, often married his peculiar, percsive bombast.
