And, on this same block was Dayton’s first gay bar, 24 W Send Street.

The Lat Lounge, on the ground floor of a parkg garage (click on the image to enlarge) may have been other post-Prohibn plac, but this is the first one old-timers that I’ve talked to what I’ve been told this place wasn’t gay until later at night, which would parallel an old-school approach to socializg and meetg. A bar or rtrant/bar would have a predomantly straight clientele, but as the eveng wore on the straight folk would fish up their dners or drkg and go home, and gays would slowly filter until the tablishment was predomantly gay by late eveng and closg.

“Mil” was an old school d way of referrg to one as gay…as “He’s mil”.
