This study shed light on gay stereotyp as picted om mastream films and pennt films by termg (1) the gay stereotyp portrayed the films, (2) the viatns om the gay stereotyp, and the (3) implitns of the gay portrayals on the prent ncept of Filipo gays. Employg the scriptive ntent analysis, the rearchers selected and examed refully four (4) films entled Manay Po and Markova: Comfort Gay and two pennt films, Masahista (The Massr) and Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros (The Blossomg of Maximo Oliveros). The gay stereotyp picted the selected movi are the effemate gays and discrete gays. The effemate gays are portrayed the films as cross drsers, parlorista, wh flamboyant liftyle and feme mannerisms. On the other hand, discrete gays are shown as bisexual mal, wh mascule and female self-image. However, there is a viatn om the gay stereotyp that is the “same sex marriage” among gays as portrayed the scen om the movie Manay Po. Of the films reviewed, was only Manay Po that ptured both typ of gay mal at the same time. Majory of the stereotyp picted the films leaned towards the “bakla” who is the very subject of ridicule and discrimatn a macho and paternalistic society like the Philipp. However, unlike the effemate “bakla,” the discreet is well accepted. Those who have revealed their sexual orientatn, but remaed discreet theirappearanc, earned the rpect and admiratn of their lleagu.
