Born to poor farmers Gaylord spent most of his ee time helpg, along wh his brother, wh the chor of scratchg out a livg on a small rice farm middle Taiwan.

Gaylord was sent off to the public school system as soon as he was of age. After attendg the lol school system, Gaylord entered and graduated om the Natnal Taiwan Amy of Arts.

His parents were tolerant of his artistic leangs; Gaylord says that his first foray to art was wh crayons on his mother's kchen wall. Gaylord was "lled" and would not sway om his goal to be an artist.

Gaylord graduated at the top of his class. While acclaimed as a stunt, Gaylord realized that he still had to fd a way for his art to provi a livg. Gaylord explas that he ate miso soup every day for breakfast, for lunch and then aga for dner.
